abstract: We describe the construction of self-similar solutions to the gravitational Euler-Poisson equations for polytropic gases, providing exact self-similar profiles for the gravitational collapse of stars. These results are based on joint work with Guo et al. (Arch. Rat. Mech. Anal. 246:957–1066, 2022).
