We consider different approaches to neoliberalization and review their value in making sense of the dramatic changes that have occurred in education worldwide. We employ Foucault's notion of the dispositif to trace the way in which neoliberalism has transformed the social, cultural and ethical landscape of education. We suggest that the construct of the dispositif may prove to be a way forward in theorizing how neoliberalism works “out there” and “in there” as a form of governance. date: 2022-01-01 date_type: published publisher: Elsevier official_url: https://doi.org/10.1016/B978-0-12-818630-5.01009-5 full_text_type: other language: eng verified: verified_manual elements_id: 2013587 doi: 10.1016/B978-0-12-818630-5.01009-5 isbn_13: 9780128186299 lyricists_name: Ball, Stephen lyricists_name: Jones, Bronwen lyricists_id: SJBAL90 lyricists_id: BJONE53 actors_name: Ball, Stephen actors_id: SJBAL90 actors_role: owner full_text_status: restricted pagerange: 60-69 book_title: International Encyclopedia of Education: Fourth Edition edition: 4th citation: Jones, BMA; Ball, SJ; (2022) The neoliberal dispositif: understanding the transformation of the social and ethical space of education.
