We first review the literature on everyday geopolitics, or Popular Geopolitics 2.0, elaborating the trend of attention to tourism activities in political geography. We then turn to tourism studies and find the divergence and convergence between these literatures. Finally, we argue that a focus on the Indo-Pacific offers new points of purchase for critical scholars reassessing the geopolitics of tourism. This introduction sets a scene for the other articles in this special section, calling for a re-thinking of the links between tourism and geopolitics from a more inclusive perspective that goes beyond Euro(American)centrism. date: 2023-04-21 date_type: published publisher: Taylor & Francis official_url: https://doi.org/10.1080/14650045.2023.2200940 oa_status: green full_text_type: pub language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 2015288 doi: 10.1080/14650045.2023.2200940 lyricists_name: Dittmer, Jason lyricists_id: JDITT61 actors_name: Dittmer, Jason actors_id: JDITT61 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public publication: Geopolitics volume: 28 number: 4 pagerange: 1405-1421 issn: 1465-0045 citation: Ning, An; Dittmer, Jason; (2023) The Geopolitics of Tourism in the Indo-Pacific.
