He encouraged distinct specialisms in particular areas of educational studies and promoted an international basis for teaching, research and professorships at the IOE. He also led the first national survey of its type on educational studies and research and cultivated a favourable public discourse for educational studies, especially through his published work The Study of Education in England. date: 2022-10-26 date_type: published publisher: UCL Press official_url: https://doi.org/10.14324/lre.20.1.39 oa_status: green full_text_type: pub language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 1996055 doi: 10.14324/lre.20.1.39 lyricists_name: McCulloch, Gary lyricists_id: GJMCC33 actors_name: Flynn, Bernadette actors_id: BFFLY94 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public publication: London Review of Education volume: 20 number: 1 article_number: 39 issn: 1474-8460 citation: McCulloch, G; (2022) Fred Clarke, the Institute of Education (London) and educational studies.
