To develop advanced fire safety measures, the quantitative risk assessment and management is essential, where fire hazards must be identified in a probabilistic manner considering operational conditions (e.g. sortie generation rates) and site-specific ocean environmental conditions (e.g. humidity, wave and wind profiles). In this paper, a set of realistic fire scenarios on the flight deck of a hypothetical short take-off/vertical landing (STOVL) type aircraft carrier are selected, which shall be used for the quantitative fire risk assessment and management. Potential fire hazards are formulated as a function of random parameters associated with operational and ocean environmental conditions, and probabilistic sampling technique is used to select hundred fire scenarios. Fire exceedance diagrams are established in association with fire-impacted (leak) area through the selected fire scenarios. date: 2023 date_type: published publisher: Informa UK Limited official_url: https://doi.org/10.1080/17445302.2022.2111118 oa_status: green full_text_type: other language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 1973735 doi: 10.1080/17445302.2022.2111118 lyricists_name: Paik, Jeom-Kee lyricists_id: JPAIK19 actors_name: Paik, Jeom-Kee actors_id: JPAIK19 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public publication: Ships and Offshore Structures volume: 18 number: 9 pagerange: 1250-1265 citation: Kim, Jeong Hwan; Kim, Seon Jin; Baeg, Dae Yu; Lee, Hyun Ho; Seo, Jung Kwan; Paik, Jeom Kee; (2023) Fire hazard identification on the flight deck of a short-take-off/vertical-landing type aircraft carrier: fire scenarios selection.
