%X This paper proposes a method to characterize the impact of shape on the energy performance of office buildings, considering a wide range of climate types. 16 modular building shapes, from one to 25 stories height, but with the same useful floor area and volume, have been simulated in the 17 climatic zones defined by the ASHRAE Standard. The results have been analysed to determine how the effect of building shape varies depending on the climate. Furthermore, the study defines a set of shape parameters that could be useful to determine the relationship between the shape and the key energy loads of buildings: lighting, heating and cooling.
