Developing countries accounted for 45 per cent of global FDI inflows in 2011, of which East and South-East Asia accounted for almost half. Inflows to the transition economies of south-east Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Georgia accounted for 6 per cent. In fact, the overall increase was driven by East, South-East Asia and Latin America. In 2011 FDI outflows to developed countries also grew strongly, reaching $748 billion, up 21 per cent from 2010. FDI flows to Europe increased by 19 per cent, mainly owing to large cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&As) by foreign multinational corporations (MNCs). date: 2014 date_type: published publisher: Palgrave Macmillan official_url: https://doi.org/10.1057/9781137367204_14 oa_status: green full_text_type: other language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 1058759 doi: 10.1057/9781137367204_14 isbn_13: 9781349474431 lyricists_name: Bruno, Randolph lyricists_id: RBRUN21 actors_name: Bruno, Randolph actors_name: Barczynska, Patrycja actors_id: RBRUN21 actors_id: PBARC91 actors_role: owner actors_role: impersonator full_text_status: public series: The Academy of International Business place_of_pub: London, UK pagerange: 228-250 book_title: International Business and Institutions after the Financial Crises edition: 1st editors_name: Temouri, Y editors_name: Jones, C citation: Bruno, RL; Cipollina, M; (2014) The Impact of Foreign Direct investment on Economic Performance in the Enlarged Europe.
