For fields applied along the c-direction, a clear second-order phase transition is found at the nematic phase, with critical behavior compatible with the two-dimensional Ising universality class (although this is not fully conclusive). Measurements in a slightly tilted magnetic field reveal a broken fourfold in-plane rotational symmetry, not only within the nematic phase, but extending towards slightly larger fields. We also analyze the universal scaling behavior expected for a metamagnetic quantum critical point, which is realized outside the nematic region. The contours of the magnetostriction suggest a relation between quantum criticality and the nematic phase. date: 2013-03-01 date_type: published publisher: WILEY-V C H VERLAG GMBH official_url: https://doi.org/10.1002/pssb.201200905 oa_status: green full_text_type: other primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 881671 doi: 10.1002/pssb.201200905 lyricists_name: Perry, Robin lyricists_id: RPERR46 actors_name: Perry, Robin actors_id: RPERR46 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public publication: Physica Status Solidi B - Basic Solid State Physics volume: 250 number: 3 pagerange: 450-456 pages: 7 issn: 1521-3951 citation: Stingl, C; Perry, RS; Maeno, Y; Gegenwart, P; (2013) Electronic nematicity and its relation to quantum criticality in Sr3Ru2O7 studied by thermal expansion.
