Overall, LX users tended to provide higher ratings of emotionality and pleasantness than L1 users, suggesting that they might be aware of the LX detachment effect and overcompensate when providing emotion perception ratings. American participants rated the stimuli as more emotional and pleasant than Asian participants regardless of modality of presentation. On the other hand, Trait EI turned out to be unrelated to emotionality and pleasantness contrary to previous evidence suggesting a positive role of EI in decoding emotions. date: 2020-07 date_type: published publisher: WILEY official_url: https://doi.org/10.1111/ijal.12285 oa_status: green full_text_type: other language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 1847000 doi: 10.1111/ijal.12285 lyricists_name: Mavrou, Eirini lyricists_id: IMAVR35 actors_name: Mavrou, Irini actors_id: IMAVR35 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public publication: International Journal of Applied Linguistics volume: 30 number: 2 pagerange: 313-328 pages: 16 citation: Mavrou, I; Dewaele, J-M; (2020) Emotionality and pleasantness of mixed-emotion stimuli: The role of language, modality, and emotional intelligence.
