There are proposals to re-stock the lochs during autumn 2009. The aim of this research project was to supply data to assist Scottish Natural Heritage in its role of advising on the impacts of the proposed fish introductions to the open water interests of the two sites. The report details the findings of a multi-proxy palaeoecological study of sediment cores collected from the lochs in 2009 and includes analyses of diatoms, Cladocera and plant macrofossils. The study aimed to determine the baseline floral and faunal assemblages and assess ecological change over the last few hundred years. Where possible, any relationship between the observed shifts and historic fish stocking of the lochs was explored. date: 2009-10 date_type: published publisher: UCL Environmental Change Research Centre official_url: https://www.geog.ucl.ac.uk/research/research-centres/environmental-change-research-centre oa_status: green full_text_type: pub language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 279016 lyricists_name: Bennion, Helen lyricists_id: HBENN58 actors_name: Kalinowski, Damian actors_id: DKALI47 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public series: ECRC Research Report number: 137 place_of_pub: London, UK pages: 63 issn: 1366-7300 book_title: ECRC Research Report citation: Bennion, H; Rawcliffe, R; Goldsmith, B; Davidson, T; Sayer, C; Yang, H; Roe, K; (2009) Palaeoecological study of two lochs: Butterstone Loch and Lindores Loch.
