This workshop aims to explore the contextual factors that contribute to reduced uptake among older adults in order to understand how to design digital technologies that will be appealing to and work for them, fitting with recent calls for more holistic approaches to designing for older adults. Going beyond standard accessibility considerations, and aiming to inform design of technologies for the general population rather than the design of senior-friendly variants of such tools, we will generate a set of principles for developing tools that older adults can and will use. date: 2019-05 date_type: published publisher: ACM official_url: https://doi.org/10.1145/3290607.3299025 oa_status: green full_text_type: other language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 1669769 doi: 10.1145/3290607.3299025 lyricists_name: Rogers, Yvonne lyricists_id: YROGE95 actors_name: Rogers, Yvonne actors_id: YROGE95 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public publication: CHI EA '19 EXTENDED ABSTRACTS: EXTENDED ABSTRACTS OF THE 2019 CHI CONFERENCE ON HUMAN FACTORS IN COMPUTING SYSTEMS pagerange: W07 pages: 8 event_title: CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI): CHI 2019, Glasgow, Scotland, UK event_location: Glasgow, SCOTLAND event_dates: 04 May 2019 - 09 May 2019 institution: CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI) book_title: CHI EA '19: Extended Abstracts of the 2019 CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems citation: Knowles, B; Hanson, VL; Rogers, Y; Piper, AM; Waycott, J; Davies, N; (2019) HCI and Aging: Beyond Accessibility.
