This is a major challenge to global health policy. Gender diversity and inclusion within the pharmaceutical workforce is integral to optimal patient care. Women continue to be underrepresented in senior and leadership positions within pharmacy, despite outnumbering the men in the global pharmacy workforce. This commentary highlights the need towards gender equity and discusses the several key initiatives that are building momentum and making substantial progress towards this agenda in the pharmaceutical workforce. date: 2020-05-15 date_type: published official_url: https://doi.org/10.1186/s40545-020-00215-5 oa_status: green full_text_type: pub pmcid: PMC7225402 language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 1786425 doi: 10.1186/s40545-020-00215-5 pii: 215 lyricists_name: Bukhari, Nadia lyricists_id: NBUKH42 actors_name: Flynn, Bernadette actors_id: BFFLY94 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public publication: Journal of Pharmaceutical Policy and Practice volume: 13 article_number: 15 event_location: England citation: Bukhari, N; Manzoor, M; Rasheed, H; Nayyer, B; Malik, M; Babar, Z-U-D; (2020) A step towards gender equity to strengthen the pharmaceutical workforce during COVID-19.
