The spectra were obtained using CGS4 on the United Kingdom Infrared Telescope and the images using NSF cam on NASA's Infrared Telescope Facility. Comparison with spectra obtained in May, 1993, shows that while the relative intensities of the northern and southern auroral zones prior to and during impact week (July 16 - 22, 1994) were broadly comparable with those of 1993, a few days after the last collision the northern aurora was considerably enhanced and its southern counterpart somewhat depressed. The north/south auroral ratio was returning to more normal values a week later. The effect of material drifting from the impact sites to the southern auroral zone is discussed in relation to these results. date: 1995-06-15 publisher: AMER GEOPHYSICAL UNION official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1029/95GL00700 vfaculties: VMPS oa_status: green language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green article_type_text: Article verified: verified_batch elements_source: Web of Science elements_id: 149640 doi: 10.1029/95GL00700 language_elements: EN lyricists_name: Achilleos, Nicholas lyricists_name: Miller, Steven lyricists_name: Tennyson, Jonathan lyricists_id: NACHI54 lyricists_id: SMILL41 lyricists_id: JTENN43 full_text_status: public publication: Geophysical Research Letters volume: 22 number: 12 pagerange: 1629 - 1632 issn: 0094-8276 citation: MILLER, S; ACHILLEOS, N; DINELLI, BM; LAM, HA; TENNYSON, J; JAGOD, MF; GEBALLE, TR; ...
