Are they entirely distinct activities – and should they remain so? What is the relation between research and teachers? Should teachers be positioned as either the objects or the recipients of research that is conducted by specialists, researchers who possess categorically different forms of expertise and equally different perspectives on what happens in schools and classrooms? This paper considers the ways in which education research is conceptualised in dominant discourses and offers the possibility of alternative approaches, informed by different epistemological and ethical understandings. date: 2019 date_type: published publisher: Taylor & Francis official_url: https://doi.org/10.1080/1358684X.2019.1649087 oa_status: green full_text_type: other language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 1682464 doi: 10.1080/1358684X.2019.1649087 lyricists_name: Yandell, John lyricists_id: JYAND53 actors_name: Austen, Jennifer actors_id: JAUST66 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public publication: Changing English volume: 26 number: 4 pagerange: 430-441 issn: 1358-684X citation: Yandell, J; (2019) English Teachers and Research: Becoming Our Own Experts.
