TI - Mind the Gap: The Health Advantages that Accompany Parental Marriage Vary by Maternal Nativity
KW - Using data from the British Millennium Cohort Study (MCS)
KW - we examine whether and how the
health benefits of having two biological parents in a continuous marital relationship vary by
maternal nativity
KW - taking into account differences by country origin. Making novel use of
Classification and Regression Tree (CART) methods
KW - we demonstrate that marriage is not a
uniform marker of economic advantage and better health-related behaviors across four maternal
nativity and ethnic groups. The findings
KW - which indicate that the health-related advantages
associated with marriage are not uniform across nativity and ethnic groups
KW - have implications for
future research on family gaps in well-being and the socioeconomic determinants of health.
