Three different diameters (D = 1.25 cm, 2.5 cm and 5.0 cm) were tested. A thermal camera SC640 was used to record a series of snapshots of the water surface temperature distribution in the wake of the cylinders at section where the flow was uniform and fully developed. The selection was made after watching a video to locate the most suitable areas for eddies and turbulence development. For the selected location, temperature values were extracted for each sequence at five selection points in the wake region using Matlab software. Time series of temperature for the snapshots of the five selected points in the area of eddy formation were drawn. The energy of the eddies were extracted using Fourier transforms. The results showed successive peaks with a slope of - 5/3. Evaluation of the eddies in the wake of the cylindrical rods showed that the energy of the eddies is small at high frequency and large eddies were observed at low frequencies. date: 2018-09-05 date_type: published publisher: E3S Web of Conferences official_url: https://doi.org/10.1051/e3sconf/20184005007 oa_status: green full_text_type: pub language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 1589481 doi: 10.1051/e3sconf/20184005007 lyricists_name: Stoesser, Thorsten lyricists_id: TSTOE28 actors_name: Cuccu, Clara actors_id: CCCUC40 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public series: Fluid mechanics and sediment processes publication: E3S Web of Conferences volume: 40 place_of_pub: Lyon, France pagerange: 1-8 event_title: River Flow 2018 : 9th International Conference on Fluvial Hydraulics issn: 2267-1242 book_title: Proceedings of the River Flow 2018 : 9th International Conference on Fluvial Hydraulics citation: Mulahasan, S; Stoesser, T; (2018) Inferring Thermal Turbulent Structures Properties in the Wake of an Array Cylindrical Obstacles.
