We show that highly reliable swap and entangling gates are achievable. We exactly study the stability of these gates in the presence of imperfections in coupling strengths and interaction times and prove them to be robust. Moreover, we analyze the effect of spontaneous emission and losses and show that such gates are very promising in view of the high level of coherent control currently achievable in optical cavities. date: 2006-01-13 official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.96.010503 vfaculties: VMPS rae2008: 19 oa_status: green language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green doi: 10.1103/PhysRevLett.96.010503 lyricists_name: Serafini, A lyricists_id: ASERA90 full_text_status: public publication: Physical Review Letters volume: 96 number: 1 pagerange: 010503 refereed: TRUE issn: 0031-9007 citation: Serafini, A.; Mancini, S.; Bose, S.; (2006) Distributed quantum computation via optical fibers.
