We consider the transient time to synchronisation in unidirectionally coupled dynamical systems, both discrete maps and continuous flows. We note that while in certain systems the time distribution is typical of chaotic transients, in other cases the distribution possesses a specific spatial organization. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
