Abstract

First, we attempt to substantiate our case about the overly limited current conception of GIS's through a brief review of the GIS literature and applications. Secondly, the developments in modelling and related planning fields, largely within the 1980s, are outlined. Finally, some proposals for the beginnings of a programme of integration are suggested. -after Authors
