In the Albanian tradition, the name reflects both the genealogical lineage as well as a territorial membership. The name is transmitted from generation to generation, especially in the paternal lineage, generally in alternated manner. The Albanian nomination system appeals for three elements: the individual name, the individual name of the father, and a third name (the name of family) of territorial or genealogical reference. Albanian anthroponymy appears in the toponymie origin of names. Names of persons inform on the geographical origin of the population, its stability, or ist mobility. The name establishes the connection between the lived space of the group and other "we," dispersed members of the kinship community. It comprises both a parental (genealogical) and a territorial field, and defines the inscriptions of the marriage and modes of affinity.
