Abstract

The recent analysis of the Internet topology by Faloutsos et al. [5] showed that the distribution of connectivity in the Internet topology decays as a power-law. The BA scale-free model and the Inet2.2 model are widely studied as topology models of the Internet. This paper examines three new topological properties in the BA model, the Inet2.2 model, and the Autonomous Systems (AS) level Internet topology, which is acquired from the Oregon route-views data sets [11]. Our results expose more topological information of these networks and point out that links between richly connected nodes can be crucial for the network's topological infrastructure. Our results also show that the Inet2.2 model resembles the AS-level Internet topology more accurately than the BA model.
