Abstract
Reaction of dithioketals with 4-methyliodobenzene difluoride [4-(difluoroiodo)toluene] provides a simple, mild, and convenient method for conversion to the corresponding gemdifluoro compounds. The method is particularly suited to substrates which involve stabilised carbocationic intermediates.
