Abstract

We investigate the efficacy of nonlinearity compensation for single-channel 14Gbaud PDM-QAM16 over an uncompensated SMF link without Raman amplification. Nonlinear compensation increased the maximum reach from 1440km to 2400km for an FEC limit of 3x10(-3). (c) 2010 Optical Society of America
