Abstract

Large ceramic injection mouldings were prepared using a SiC composition with polycarbosilane and paraffin wax. The material sustained mixing and injection moulding at temperatures up to 230 °C. Conventional, modulated pressure and heated sprue techniques were used to produce large sections, some of which were subsequently pyrolysed and sintered. Fired relative densities of 97% were obtained under conditions where the dry compacted powder sintered to 90%. © 1995.
