Abstract
In this paper, the radiation characteristics of frequency diversity array are concerned. With a set of CW signals of different frequencies transmitted simultaneously from the array, the transient field is examined by electromagnetic field simulation software. A periodically scanning beam is observed and the scanning speed is shown to be related to the frequency increment between two neighboring elements. Based on electromagnetic field simulation results, a low cost frequency diverse array is designed. 4 PLL frequency synthesizers sharing the same reference signal generate the desired signals. The output frequencies can be easily configured and flexibly changed by 16 bit parallel programming.
