Abstract

Neutron diffraction has been used to study the magnetic structure of a series of Ho/Lu superlattices, In zero field a transition to a ferromagnetic phase of Ho is observed at low temperatures, and the stability of this phase has been investigated by applying a magnetic field in the basal plane.
