This paper discusses results of triaxial tests carried out using two residual soils of Botucatu sandstone with different natural void ratios. The combined influence of bonding and natural void ratio on the stress-strain behaviour of both soils has been recognized. Their yield surfaces and low-strain stiffnesses are to some extent similar but shear strength envelopes are different. A strongly non-linear influence of coming stress on soil stiffness was observed.
