Studies of stored collections in museums

Keene, S (Ed). (2007) Studies of stored collections in museums. [Whole issue]. Papers from the Institute of Archaeology , 18 (S1). Gold open access

Abstract

These papers focus on museum collections in store. They are a very large resource that is thought to be little used and therefore hard to justify. The papers explore store tours, the quality of storage, how much collections in some museums are used, and what the public thinks; the effects of online catalogues; the future for curators; and finally, some statistics on the collections of the English national museums.
