Abstract

We review measurements of the high-frequency magnetic excitations in the paramagnetic alloy Cr0.95V0.05 made using pulsed spallation neutron techniques. Spatially coherent magnetic excitations are observed up to the highest energy investigated, ℏω = 400 meV. The wavevector-integrated or local susceptibility increases approximately linearly with frequency up to this energy. Our observations contrast strongly with those on pure Cr in its paramagnetic phase.
