Abstract
This article analyses the trends in the frequencies of fatal train accidents due to signals passed at danger (SPADs). It separates shows that the trend in the frequency of SPAD accidents involving trains making conflicting movements has a different pattern over time from those involving trains proceeding in the same direction on the same track
