Abstract

The goal of MICE (Piloting of multimedia Integrated Services for European Researchers) project is to enable multimedia conferencing between conference rooms and workstation based facilities, hardware and software codecs, packet switched networks and ISDN, using both uni- and multicast technologies. Multimedia conferencing implies that voice, video and computer data are to be shared amongst geographically distributed groups. The paper discusses experiences and information gathered during the use of workstation based facilities in the MICE projects.
