Abstract

We propose a model of an attendant and a wheelchair system for controller design of assisted attendant's propelled wheelchairs. The proposed model has two main elements, attendant's propelling force, against walking speed, as power characteristic and wheelchair dynamics including road resistance, as attendant's load. Between two main elements, there are two attendant's dynamics, which one is a motion exerting pushing force and the other is a motion following up the wheelchair. We report a result validating the model whose parameters are estimated from many experiments on produced treadmill system with motorized handles and electric load system.
