Abstract
Assesses whether the corporate governance norms applicable to financial institutions in the UK are sufficient to safeguard both the private interests of investors and the public interest in sustaining a strongly performing corporate sector. Analyses this public interest aspect of investor-led governance. Suggests that it offers a rationale for subjecting institutions' corporate governance duties to regulatory standards and monitoring.
