Abstract

This paper is concerned with multivariable controller synthesis for a multiburner furnace design commonly seen in industry. A nonlinear multivariate controller design method based on sliding mode theory is explained and demonstrated for such furnaces. This framework can be used for temperature and oxygen concentration regulation simultaneously. The disturbance rejection and tracking possibilities of the controller makes it a good candidate for implementation on a real furnace.
