Title: Working at the 'edges' of care? : European models of support for young people and families
Additional information: This report collated data on children in public care from four European countries (Denmark, England, France and Germany). This analysis and presentation had not been done before. In addition, data were supplied by DCSF on children looked after in England: this was a large and complex dataset and was subjected to extensive secondary statistical analysis. The research also involved interviews with practitioners, service managers, and national and local policy makers in each of the four countries. The study derived important messages for English government about the development of work with this vulnerable group of young people, and has fed into a range of policy development, notably the work of the Social Work Taskforce.
