CHARGE-SYMMETRY BREAKING IN THE D-D--]ALPHA-PI-0 REACTION.

New experimental data on near-threshold production of eta-mesons in the d d --> alpha eta reaction are extrapolated to below threshold using a low energy scattering length model. Combining this with the signal suggested for the charge-symmetry-breaking d d --> alpha pi0 reaction, yields a value of the eta - pi0 mixing angle which is compatible with other determinations, though with large systematic error bars. The consequences of this for isospin-violation in other reactions are also explored.
