Abstract

The dynamics of the benzene moiety of perdeuterated benzenetricarbonylchromium (eta(6)-C6D6)Cr(CO)(3) guest molecules in their thiourea inclusion compound, investigated by H-2 NMR spectroscopy, are described by in-plane nearest neighbour 2 pi/6 jumps; the activation energy for this motion (20.2 kJ mol(-1) from H-2 NMR lineshape analysis and 19.8 kJ mol(-1) from H-2 NMR spin-lattice relaxation time measurements) is higher than that for the corresponding motion in the pure crystalline phase of perdeuterated benzenetricarbonylchromium.
