Mathematical expressions have been derived which relate the degree of percutaneous penetration to the thickness of the applied base. The relative importance of simple physicochemical parameters is discussed and theoretical release curves provided to show the way in which optimum dosage regimens may be achieved. © 1980, All rights reserved.
