MoonLITE: A UK-led mission to the Moon.
Astronomy and Geophysics
MoonLITE is a proposal for a UK-led mission to the Moon that will place four penetrators in the lunar surface in order to make geochemical and geophysical measurements that are impossible from orbit. It has the potential to make major contributions to lunar science, while at the same time providing knowledge that will be of central importance in planning future human missions to the Moon. Plus, MoonLITE will demonstrate technologies that will have wide applications for the exploration of other solar system bodies. © 2008 Royal Astronomical Society.
