Abstract

The membrane properties of mammalian preimplantation mouse embryos have been studied electrophysiologically. There appear to be characteristic changes in membrane properties as the embryos develop. It is possible that these data may provide the basis for the use of electrophysiological methods in the future as a means of diagnosing the potential viability of mammalian embryos.
