Abstract
A high-speed, trimaran intermodal freight vessel in a European context is presented. Current European thinking on intermodal transport and emissions reduction is briefly presented. This is followed by the concept design of a large (5,500 te deadweight) fast (40 kt) freight vessel for use along the Norwegian coast. The trimaran hullform has been chosen because of its good high-speed performance and large upper deck area.
