Abstract

Apparatus is described for study of polarization effects in exclusive charge-exchange reactions of pi ** minus and K** minus mesons to neutral final states that decay to gamma quanta. The gamma quanta are registered by a total-absorption Cerenkov spectrometer based on lead-glass counters. The apparatus has been used to study asymmetry in the charge-exchange reactions pi ** minus p yields ( pi **0, eta , eta prime , omega , f) plus N, pi ** minus p yields K**0 LAMBDA , and K** minus p yields K**0 LAMBDA .
