Abstract

With the rapid development of highway construction in the west of China, new demands are brought out in protecting western environment. In the environmental protection, environmental monitoring is important foundation and supporting power, while ascertaining environmental monitor index is the most important part of environmental monitoring. The nature of establishing index system of environmental monitoring for highway construction in the west of China lies in extracting the variant information of kinds of environmental factors in time and space, and evaluating current situation, variation and development trend of kinds of natural resource, and seeking the relationship between highway construction and natural environment in the west of China, and it can offer theoretical basis for protecting and improving quality of natural environment in the west. In order to reduce the adverse influence in western highway construction, this paper summarized the application of high-way construction and environmental protection in the west of China, studied the principles that should be followed in establishing environmental monitoring indexes in western highway construction, and on this basis, put forward the index system of environmental monitoring and the monitoring method of indexes for highway construction in west of China.
