Abstract

Wave-current interactions were considered for the case of waves running over an orthogonal current. Predictions from some widely used wave-current models were compared with field measurements made at Mallacoota Bay, south-eastern Australia. Wave-current effects were incorporated in a simple one-dimensional model using a Chezy approximation for bottom friction. The model's main shortcoming was a tendency to over-react to short periods of high wind speed or strong wave activity. (D.W.T.)
