Abstract

May and others have shown that simple non-linear diference equations can exhibit very complicated dynamic behaviour. They offer new insights into the dynamics of shopping centre developments both in respect of these being modelled by difference equations and when they are modelled using differential equations which are then integrated numerically. The methods are applied to 2 different dynamic shopping models and, in a concluding section, some speculations are presented on the effect of these ideas on more complicated and realistic models.-from Author
