Synthesis and characterization of a homoleptic thiolate complex of titanium(IV).

The reaction of Ti(NEt2)(4) with 10 equiv of PhCH2SH in toluene resulted in the formation of the ionic complex [NEt2H2] [Ti-2(mu-SCH2Ph)(3)(SCH2Ph)(6)]. The X-ray structure of the complex has been determined. The coordination number at each titanium center is 6, and the geometry is approximately octahedral.
