Abstract

The articles addresses a number of theoretical problems in studies of early Slavic literature, including the use of an argument from silence in a study of authorship and dating and the development of a literary text in pre-modern literature. The paper also examines the application of these theoretical issues to the textual history and dating of the first interpretative historical work in Russian culture, the Book of Royal Degrees.
