Abstract

This essay analyses the cinematic representation of the Swiss hotel, from the beginnings of cinema to the twenty-first century. Local filmmakers such as Godard, Tanner, Soutter and Schmid are discussed alongside the work of significant tourists (e.g. Méliès, Hitchcock, Disney and Eastwood).
