Abstract
Several TiO2 and B2O3 mixtures have been subjected to carbothermic reduction to synthesise titanium boride (TiB2) under various conditions. The mixture and conditions that gave the best yield of TiB2 was compounded with an organic vehicle. The resulting formulation was successfully injection moulded to produce test bars. Specimens produced from these test bars were subjected to removal of the organic vehicle and the optimum carbothermic reduction conditions to produce TiB2 bars.
