Abstract

Ceramic inks which are well dispersed dilute suspensions of powder in a liquid carrier have been put through a continuous ink jet printer. The operation parameters of the printer have been studied and the size of droplets generated has been deduced. Ceramic patterns with good drop by drop resolution were printed directly. Multiple layers of ceramic were printed and sintered and the resulting microstructures were characterised. The key properties of the ceramic ink were evaluated before and after printing.
